How do I add a thumbnail to my videos?
What is a thumbnail?
A video thumbnail is a still image that represents the content of a video. It serves as a preview and plays a crucial role in attracting the attention of potential viewers on video-sharing platforms such as YouTube. This image is usually the first visual element users see before clicking to watch the video, acting as a kind of “cover” or preview of the content. A well-designed thumbnail can significantly increase click-through rates and viewer engagement.
Is it compatible with all networks?
Currently, video thumbnail customization on Dailyfy is only compatible with the following social networks: Facebook, Instagram and Youtube (please check that the format is the same for each social network).
Steps to customize a video thumbnail
- You have to go to the composer to write a publication.
- Select a Facebook or Instagram account
- Add a video to your teaser
- In the top left-hand corner, you’ll see a configuration icon.
- Click on the configuration icon
- Import an image from your computer
- Close the window and publish your content on the networks.

What format should I use for thumbnails?

For thumbnails on Facebook, Youtube and Instagram, we recommend importing a :
- For Reels: 9/16 format, i.e. 1080 x 1920px
- For Facebook videos (feed): 16/09 format, i.e. 1920x1080px.
- For YouTube, we recommend that you use the format of your video for the thumbnail. If an imported thumbnail does not match the required dimensions, it is resized to the correct size without altering its proportions. The image is not cropped, but black bars may appear to ensure correct size.
If you import a different format, your image will automatically be repositioned in the center of the video on Facebook (with two black stripes at the top and bottom) or will take on the actual size of the Reel on Instagram.
Please note that for Instagram, the thumbnail will be cropped in the grid view. We recommend that you leave the text at the top and bottom of the thumbnail, or position it so that it doesn’t get cut off.
For thumbnails, we recommend PNG or JPG format.
